Vannathi Bhagavathy Theyyam kolam, also known as Vannathi Pothi, is a unique theyyam performed during the annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival in Kannur region of Kerala. As per information, this is a female theyyam and is of a person who lived during the ancient times. As per Vannathi Bhagavathy theyyam story, she was the wife of Theyyam performer Peruvannan. She is used to give new dress to those women who take bath after their monthly periods. One day while she was carrying new dress, Karuval Bhagavathi happened to see her. She had the form of a forest dweller and she asked for a new dress. But Vannathi did not give her a dress and jokingly said why should a forest dweller need dress. The Goddess got angry and killed her by hitting her head with a stone. Vanathi became a goddess or pothi after this incident. As per some belief, Vannathi Bhagavathy is the daughter of Mahadeva Shiva.

- കാട്ടുമൂർത്തിയായ ഭഗവതി ഇല്ലത്തളയിട്ട് കറുമ്പിയായി വഴിവക്കില്‍ നിന്ന് മൂന്നാംകുളി കഴിഞ്ഞ എനിക്കും മാറ്റ് വേണമെന്നപേക്ഷിച്ചപ്പോൾ കാട്ടാളത്തിക്ക് മാറ്റെന്തിന് എന്ന് പരിഹസിച്ചു വണ്ണാത്തി മുന്നോട്ടു നീങ്ങിയപ്പോള്‍ കാട്ടുപെണ്ണ്‍ വഴി തടഞ്ഞു.
- കോപിഷ്ഠയായ അവള്‍ വണ്ണാത്തിയെ പാറക്കല്ലില്‍ അടിച്ചു കൊന്നു.
