Unnanga Bhagavathi Theyyam kolam is a rare theyyam performed during the annual kaliyattam, thira, theyyam festival in Kannur and Kasaragod regions of Kerala. As per information, this is a female theyyam who met with a tragic end. As per Unnanga Bhagavathi theyyam story, she was the sister of a farmer named Maniyara Chandu. Once before going to his farm, he asked his upsanaa murti family deity Kurathi to guard his betel leaf farm (Kilivalan Vettila). Unnanga came to the betel leaf farm and plucked few leaves and made paan out of it and ate it. But with a few hours she fell dead on the corner of the farm. People who found her informed her brother and her cremation was performed. Chandu was inconsolable and wept loudly. Hearing the cries of Chandu, Goddess Kurathi came out and removed the coal from the burning pyre using her sword. From it appeared Unnanga in the form of a Goddess. A place of worship was given to her and she was given a theyyam.

- മൂന്നേ മുക്കാല്‍ നാഴിക കൊണ്ട് അവള്‍ വയലില്‍ തന്നെ തെക്കു വടക്കായി വീണു മരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
- നാട്ടുകാരും കൂട്ടുകാരും ചേര്ന്ന് ശവം ദഹിപ്പിച്ചു.
- എന്ന്നാല്‍ കരയുന്ന ചന്തുവിന്റെ വിളികേട്ടു പാഞ്ഞോടി വന്ന കുറത്തിയമ്മ തന്റെ തിരുവായുധമായ വെള്ളിക്കത്തികൊണ്ട് കനല്‍ മാറ്റി.
- കനല്‍ നടുവില്‍ നിന്നും ഉണ്ണങ്ങ അപൂര്‍വ തേജസ്സോടെ ദൈവക്കോലമായി ഉയര്ന്നു വന്നു.
