Thiruvappana theyyam is seen especially in famous Madapuras during the annual theyyam kaliyattam thira festival in Kannur and Kasaragod regions of Kerala. As per information, this is the theyyam of Muthappan form of Shiva. Thiruvappana Theyyam story is that of Muthappan – a very popular form of Mahadeva Shiva worshipped in Northern Kerala.

The theyyam holds a bow and arrow. The theyyam is worshipped to achieve peace and prosperity. Thiruvappana Theyyam is also worshipped for long life and to overcome various kind of fears.

This is a vary popular theyyam and can be seen in numerous kavu, tharavadu, temples and sacred places in both Kannur and Kasaragod regions of Kerala.
