Puthiyaramban Theyyam – Story – Information

Puthiyaramban theyyam is a rare theyyam seen during the annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival in Kasaragod region of Kerala. As per information this is a male theyyam and is associated with fire. As per Puthiyaramban theyyam story, this is a manifestation of a deity and is believed to have made his presence felt in the region. He protected people and livestock from various attacks. The deity was given a place of worship and a theyyam is performed annually to get his blessings.

This theyyam is performed usually at night and is a visual spectacle due to fire lit. The theyyam is known to perform certain acrobatic moves.

This theyyam is annually performed at Kasaragod Udinnur Kulome (Kshethra Palakan Temple) from February 15 to February 16.
