Cherukunnu Punnacheri Chittiyil Tharavadu temple is located at Cherukunnu in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to deities that are worshipped in tharavadu and kavu in Kannur region. The annual theyyam kaliyattam thira festival in the temple is held for two days in Meda Masam – Medam 23 and Medam 24 (May 6 and May 7).
The theyyams that are performed in this temple during kaliyattam festival are Kandanaarkelan, Kudiveeran, Puthiya Bhagavathy, Thekkan Gulikan and Vayanattu Kulavan theyyam.
The temple has a rectangular sanctum sanctorum with two
doors for two separate main deities. Other deities popularly worshipped in Kavu
and temples in Kannur region are also worshipped in the temple in small
sreekovils and square platforms. Sankranti and Vishu are important days in the
temple.
