Chandranellur Bhagavathy Theyyam kolam is a rare theyyam limited to a single kavu in Kannur region of Kerala. As per information, this is a fierce manifestation of Mother Goddess Shakti. As per Chandranellur Bhagavathy Theyyam story, Bhagavathi appeared before an elderly person in Chandranellur tharavadu. She was given a place of worship. The Bhagavathy accepted the invitation and made the tharavadu her aaroodam. She blessed the people of the region with peace and prosperity. She protected livestock and cured communicable diseases. To keep her calm and to get her blessings a theyyam is performed annually.
