Balkampet Yellamma Kalyanotsavam is the most important annual festival held at the famous Balkampet Yellamma temple in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Balkampet Yellamma Kalyanam 2025 date is July 1. Rathotsavam 2025 date is July 2. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Yellamma Devi, also known as Renuka Devi and Jala Durga, as the murti of the Goddess resides in a reclining position surrounded by water nearly 10-feet below the ground.
The festival is the divine wedding of Mother Goddess Shakti
with Bhagavan Mahadeva Shiva.
Thousands of devotees attend the annual festival of the
Goddess, who fulfills the desires of devotees and provides relief to various health
problems.
Pattu Vastralu (special attire) for the kalyanam is provided by the Government of Telangana.
The annual rathotsavam or chariot festival part of the Kalyanam
is held on the next day.
As part of the festivities devotees make various kinds of offerings which mainly include sarees, bangles and other beauty products. Some devotees carry milk pots decorated with neem leaves. Turmeric is lavishly used during the festivities.
The festival is held on the first Tuesday of Ashada month as per traditional Hindu Telugu lunar calendar followed in Telangana.
