Akam Kalan theyyam (അകം കാലൻ തെയ്യം) is a rare theyyam seen during the annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival in Kannur and Kasaragod regions of Kerala. As per information this is a male theyyam. Akam Kaalan theyyam story is that of a deity associated with death and destruction. He is propitiated to avoid untimely death and for good health. A theyyam is annually performed to keep him happy and away from children, women, men and livestock.
