Puloon Theyyam – Information – Story

Puloon theyyam (പൂളോന്‍ തെയ്യം) is a rare theyyam seen during the annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival period in Kannur and Kasaragod districts of Kerala. As per information, this is a male theyyam and a hunter deity. As per Puloon theyyam story, he is believed to be Arjuna of Mahabharata and Keeratha Murthi form of Shiva who appeared before him. Puthichon Theyyam is performed along with Puloon theyyam. Puthichon theyyam is Kirathamoorthy form of Shiva.

The deity is offered prayers to achieve peace and prosperity. The theyyam has the characteristics of a hunter.
