Pallakkoruvedan Theyyam – Story – Information

Pallakkoruvedan Theyyam is a rare theyyam seen during the annual thira kaliyattam theyyam festival mainly in Kasaragod region of Kerala. As per information, this a hunter theyyam and the theyyam is of a person who had lived in the region and the story is based on folklore. Pallakkoruvedan Theyyam story is that of the deity helping the region, a family through his selfless action and becomes a daivakaru or holy person. The person is given a worship place and theyyam is performed in his remembrance annually.

Pallakkoruvedan is a ferocious theyyam and is known to attack poeple. It has a unique headgear and appearance. It holds a bow and arrow and sword.

This theyyam can be witnessed at Kasargod Nileshwaram Palakkat Sree Puthiya Parambath Bhagavathy Kavu temple from February 6 to February 11.
