Vellukurickal theyyam (വെള്ളുകുരിക്കള്) is a very rare theyyam and is based on folklore theme and is performed in very few tharavadu or temples or sacred places in Kannur and Kasaragod region of Kerala. As per information, Vellukurickal theyyam belonged to a low caste and his fame resulted in his death. Vellukurickal theyyam story is that of a girl belonging to Thiyya caste drinking porridge water from a Pulaya house. She is throw out of her house and becomes a Pulaya. She gives birth to a son who begins a famous sorcerer. His fame had consequences as it made many people of the upper caste jealous. They got him killed and he became Vellukurickal theyyam.

കുടക്കത്ത് വീട്ടിലെ തീയ്യ പെൺകുട്ടി പുലചാളയില് നിന്ന് ഉപ്പിട്ട കഞ്ഞിവെള്ളം വാങ്ങി കുടിച്ചതിനാല് ജാതി ഭ്രഷ്ടയായി പുലച്ചിയായി മാറുകയും അവൾക്കുണ്ടായ മകന് വിരുന്തന് അത്ഭുത സിദ്ധി കാട്ടി മാന്ത്രികനെന്ന് പെരെടുത്ത് മറ്റുള്ളവരുടെ അസൂയക്ക് ഇരയായി വധിക്കപ്പെടുകയും വെള്ളുകുരിക്കള് ആവുകയും ചെയ്തുവത്രേ.
