Sugathi Dwadashi Vrat

Sugathi Dwadashi Vrat is dedicated to Bhagavan Sri Krishna and is observed for one year on all Shukla Paksha Dwadashi or 12th day during the waxing phase of moon starting with the Shukla Paksha Dwadashi in Phalgun month (February - March). Sugathi Dwadashi Vrat 2025 beginning date is March 11.

Information about Sugathi Dwadasi vrat is found in Hemadri (Vrat Khand 1. 1081 – 1083) and Vishnudharmottara Purana (3- 215 - 4-22).

Those observing the Vrat perform upvaas or fasting on the entire Dwadashi tithi. Special pujas are offered Bhagavan Sri Krishna and Krishna mantras are chanted. The 108 names of Sri Krishna or Krishna Ashtottara Shatanamavali is chanted on the day.

During the first four months Sri Krishna is worshipped. During the next four months Keshava form of Krishna is worshipped. During the final four months, the vrat is dedicated to Bhagavan Vishnu.

The popular belief is that a person performing the vrat for a year will attain Vishnuloka.
