Korakkott Bhagavathy theyyam is a rare ferocious Mother Goddess theyyam seen during the annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival in Kannur and Kasaragod regions of North Kerala. As per information, this theyyam is the daughter of Paramashiva. As per Korakkott Bhagavathy theyyam story, Shiva gifted his daughter powerful weapons and blessed her. He then asked her to proceed to earth and destroy evil tantrics. She killed several Tantris and rid the place of their terror.
The people of the region thanked her by giving her an aaroodam or place of worship. They perform a theyyam annually in honor of her and to keep her calm and pacified.
