Kanhangad Lakshminagar Karattu Tharavadu temple is located at Lakshminagar near Kanhangad in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathy and other popular deities that are worshipped in kavu and tharavadu in Kannur region. The annual theyyam kaliyattam thira festival in the temple is held once in three years for two days in Dhanu Masam – Dhanu 11 and Dhanu 12 (December 26 and December 27).
The theyyams that are performed in this temple during kaliyattam festival are Dhandyanghanath theyyam, Pottan theyyam, Raktha Chamundi theyyam, Vishnumoorthi theyyam and Gulikan theyyam.
This is a small traditional Kerala style temple with a small chathura sreekovil. There are no major structures. Other deities popularly worshipped in Kavu and temples in Kannur region are also worshipped in the temple in small sreekovils and square platforms. Sankranti and Vishu are important days in the temple.
The annual festival days are noted various unique pujas and rituals, melam, decoration, fireworks and traditional temple performing art forms.
