Icheri Nirakkal Kavu Temple – Thira – Theyyam Festival

Icheri Nirakkal Kavu temple is located near Sreekandapuram in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to deities that are part of Kavu and Tharavadu in Kannur region. The annual theyyam – thira festival in the temple is held for two days in Dhanu Masam – Dhanu 25 and Dhanu 26 (January 9 and January 10).

The temple has no major structures except for small sreekovil and square platforms atop which the deities are worshipped.

The important theyyams that are part of the annual kaliyattam – thira festival are Amma Daivam theyyam, Muthappan theyyam and Perumpuzhayachan theyyam.
