Sacred Mud Prasadam At Kukke Subramanya Temple In Karnataka

Kukke Subramanya temple in Karnataka is dedicated Subrahmanya or Kartik and is an important snake worship center in the region. The temple lies on the banks of Dhara River. The shrine is also dedicated to Vasuki, an important serpent deity in Hindu religion. The shrine is famous for mud prasadam.

The mude prasadam is found at the northeast corner of the Kukke Subramanya temple complex. The shrine of Adi Subramanya is located here. Within the shrine are a snake pit and two ancient anthills believed to have medicinal properties. Mud from the ant hill is available as Mruthika prasadam for devotees. It is believed to cure all kinds of skin diseases and bless a devotee with good health.
