Mavicheri Sri Bhagavathi temple is located at Mavichery near Payyanur in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi. The annual kaliyattam – theyyam festival in the temple is held for four days in Malayalam Makara Masam – Makaram 10, Makaram 11, Makaram 12 and Makaram 13 (January 24 to January 27). This temple is famous for the unique theyyam called "Thuluveeran", as this theyyam is performed in two places in the region.
The temple is managed by the Thiyya community. There is no daily pooja. Puja is held on the Sankranthi day as per Malayalam calendar.
The important theyyams performed in the
temple are Madayil Chamundi theyyam, Kannikoru Makan theyyam, Narambil
Bhagavathy theyyam, Padar Kulangara Bhagavathy theyyam, Puthiya Bhagavathy
theyyam and Raktha Chamundi theyyam.
The main shrine is with a small decorated chathura sreekovil. The other deities are worshipped on square platforms and also in small sreekovils.
Vishu is an important festival in the temple.
