Food Offering At Kolhapur Mahalaxmi Temple – Naivedya Or Bhog Offering At Ambabai Mahalaxmi Temple

The food offering at Kolhapur Mahalaxmi temple is unique and is in tune with the naivedya or bhog offered in most temples in Maharashtra. The first food offering at Ambabai Mahalaxmi temple is at 5:30 AM – the food offering is butter and coarse sugar to the accompaniment of Bhup Rag

The next food offering is at 9:30 AM and it is suji kheer (sweet).

The main food offering of the day is at 12:30 PM – a complete lunch with traditional vegetarian dishes, puran poli, rice, dal, koshimbir. Puran poli is a flatbread stuffed with a sugar sweet lentil filling made from chana dal. Koshimbir is a salad with tomato, cucumber and soaked moong dal.

The next important food offering is at 8:15 PM and this includes poha, karanji and ladoo.

The final naivedya is around 10:10 PM and this includes milk and sugar.
