Code of Conduct For Vishnu Devotees As Per Vishnu Purana

According to Vishnu Purana, the devotees of Bhagavan Vishnu should follow certain rules and regulations. These codes of conduct for Vishnu devotees were enumerated by Sage Uddhava to King Sagara.

To get up early in the morning and worship Bhagavan Vishnu or his incarnations according to the prescribed rituals.

To recite the name of Bhagavan at least 108 times every day, along with meditation on the form of the worshiped deity.

Apply the religious mark on the forehead – tilak and wearing rosary made up on the beads of holy basil (tulasi mala).

To read specific portions of texts like the Bhagavad Gita, Srimad Bhagavata Purana or other Vaishnava texts.

Food should be consumed only after following the above four rules.

To eat and drink only after first offering the food and water to Bhagwan Vishnu. Meat and liquor should be avoided completely. Food should be shared with other living beings.

Yama and niyama should be faithfully observed by a Vaishnava.

Repetition of the Gayatri mantra or Alvar hymns, making an offering to the Sun, chanting and singing praises of God and praying at night with all family members.
