The 21-kg famous laddu of Balapur during Ganesh Chaturthi festivities is auctioned on the final day of the annual 10-day Ganpati festival. The laddu, also known as golden ladoo, fetches more than 20 lakhs in the auction. The auction is conducted by the Balapur Ganesh Utsav Samithi.
Holding an auction of laddu is an integral part of the 10-day-long Balapur Ganesh Chathurthi festivities in Telangana. The auction began in 1994 and the laddu was auctioned for Rs 450! In 2022, the auction fetched 24.6 lakh rupees.
The auctioning of laddu marks the start of the main Ganesh murti immersion procession in Hyderabad. After travelling 19 km, the Balapur Ganpati murti is finally immersed at Hussain Sagar Lake.
