What Kind Of Rice Is Used In Hindu Puja?

Rice is an indispensable part of Hindu puja and rituals. Uncooked broken rice is used when showering over a deity or making offering. Cooked rice is only offered as naivedyam or Prasad or bhog. The type of rice used is unhusked or brown rice. Polished rice should not be used in pujas. Broken rice also should not be used in Hindu pujas. Basmati and white boiled rice are not used in worship and puja.

The used rice is usually put under or given to birds.

Used rice in puja room should be collected and deposited under a tree.
