Tripuri Purnima festival held on Kartik Purnima day (November) is of great importance at the Kolhapur Mahalaxmi Temple. The festival is referred to as the Diwali of the gods.
The temple opens at 2:45 AM for darshan on Tripurari Purnima day. The pujas and rituals begins with Padya Puja and arati. Panchamrut Abhishek is performed at 5:00 AM. Panchamrut abhishek, aarti and other pujas are performed at 11:30 AM
Satyanarayana Puja is performed between 5 PM and 8 PM at Garuda Mandap and the Prasad is offered to the devotees.
Chariot procession around the temple begins at 9:30 PM. The procession ends at Garuda Mandapa.
A cannon salute is given at 10:30 PM and this marks the end of procession and Tripuri purnima rituals and pujas.
