Perunguzhi Vishnu Temple – History – Timings

Perunguzhi Vishnu temple, also known as Valiya Thoppil Mahavishnu temple, is located at Perunguzhi near Veiloor in Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Bhagwan Vishnu.

The temple is located near a sacred grove. It is said that the grove was so dense in earlier times that people used to find it hard to live nearby. They murti of Mahavishnu was consecrated here to protect the people of area from the fierce living beings that lived in the sacred grove.

The temple has a chathura sreekovil facing east. The shrine has a kodimaram, chuttambalam, namaskara mandapam and shrines of upa devatas.

Fortnightly Ekadasi fasting and Thiruvonam nakshatra are of importance in the temple. Thursday is auspicious to visit the shrine. Vishu, Ramayana Masam, annual festival, Thiruvonam and Vrischika Masam are observed in the shrine.
