Kollam Kottarakkulam Ganapathy temple is located near Kollam Civil Station in Kollam town, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Ganesha or Mahaganapathy. Vinayaka Chaturthi or Ganesha Chaturthi is an important festival at Kottarakkulam Sree Mahaganapathy Kovil and is held in Malayalam Chinga Masam.
This is a traditional Tamil Nadu style temple. The temple has an east facing sanctum sanctorum. There is also a pond nearby. The temple is maintained by Tamil Brahmin community of the area.
The upa devatas worshiped in the temple are Sastha, Navagrahas and Nagas.
Temple observes Navratri with Vidyarambham.
The important pujas in the temple are Ashta Dravya Maha Ganapathi Homam, Kalasha Pooja, Laksharchana and Pushpa Abhishekam. The main offering in the temple are Appam and Modakams.

കൊല്ലം കളക്ട്രേറ്റിനടുത്ത് കേരളത്തിലെ കൊല്ലം നഗരത്തിലെ പ്രശസ്തമായ മഹാഗണപതിക്ഷേത്രമാണ് കൊട്ടാരക്കുളം മഹാഗണപതിക്ഷേത്രം.
കുണ്ടറവിളംബരത്തിലൂടെ പ്രശസ്തനായ വേലുത്തമ്പി ദളവയുടെ കാലത്ത് നിര്‍മ്മിച്ച കൊല്ലം ഹജൂര്‍കച്ചേരിയാണ് ഇന്നത്തെ കൊല്ലം കളക്ട്രേറ്റ്. അതിന് തെക്കുവശത്തായുള്ള കൊട്ടാരക്കുളമെന്ന ജലാശയത്തിന്‍റെ കിഴക്കേഭാഗത്താണ് കൊട്ടാരക്കുളം മഹാഗണപതിക്ഷേത്രം കിഴക്കോട്ട് ദര്‍ശനമായി സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്.
മഹാഗണപതിയ്ക്കു പുറമേ ശാസ്താവും നവഗ്രഹങ്ങളും നാഗദൈവങ്ങളും ഇവിട പ്രതിഷ്ഠിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്.
കൊല്ലത്തെ ബാരഹ്മണസമാജമാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം പ്രശസ്തമായ നിലയില്‍പൂദാവിശേഷങ്ങളോടെ നടത്തിക്കൊണ്ട് പോകുന്നത്.
എഴുന്നൂറ് വര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍ക്കു മുന്‍പ് കൊല്ലത്ത് എത്തിച്ചേര്‍ന്ന ചോളന്മാരും പാണ്ഡ്യന്മാരുമാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന് നാന്ദിക്കുറിച്ചതെന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. ചില ബ്രാഹ്മണകുടുംബങ്ങളുടെ കൈവശമായിരുന്ന ക്ഷേത്രം പില്ക്കാലത്ത് ബ്രാഹ്മണ സമാജത്തിന്‍റെ അധീനതയില്‍വന്നുചേരുകയും കൃത്യമായ പൂജയും ആരാധനയും കൊണ്ട് കൊട്ടാരക്കുളം മഹാഗണപതിക്ഷേത്രം പ്രശസ്തമാവുകയും ചെയ്തു.
