Kathmandu Lakshmi Narayana Temple – Nepal

Kathmandu Lakshmi Narayana Temple is located at Durbar Square in Kathmandu, Nepal. The shrine is dedicated to the Lakshmi Narayana form of Bhagavan Vishnu. The two-storied temple in pagoda style with two roofs was built by Pratap Malla (1641-74 CE).

The sanctum sanctorum has a murti of Bhagavan Vishnu along with Goddess Lakshmi.

The shrine was damaged during the 2015 earthquake. It has been reinforced with hidden steel rods.

The wood work in the temple is noted for its beautiful intricate carvings. Door panels have sculptures of deities from Hindu pantheon.

Vaishnava Nepali pujas and rituals are held in the temple. Tihar festival (October – November) is of importance in the temple.
