Banepa Thanapati Narayan Temple – Nepal

Banepa Thanapati Narayan temple is located at Banepa in Nepal. The shrine is dedicated to Narayana or Bhagavan Vishnu. The two-tiered temple is noted for its architecture especially wood works.

The murti of Bhagavan Vishnu is worshipped in a square sanctum sanctorum. The courtyard also houses another small temple dedicated to the deity.

The wooden sculptures and carvings in the temple are based on Hindu gods and goddesses and stories from the Puranas.

The shrine also has stone sculptures of Garuda, lion and various other Vishnu temple motifs.
