Pushkaram in 2022 – Pranahita River Pushkaralu in 2022 - Kaleshwara Mukteswara Swamy Temple

Pranahita Pushkaram is held once in 12 years and is conducted on the Pranahita River banks in Adilabad and Karimnagar districts of Telangana. Pranahita Pushkaralu 2022 dates are from April 13 to April 24, 2022. This pushkaram is held when Jupiter enters Pisces Zodiac (Meena Rashi). The main ritual includes taking holy dip in the Pranahitha River in various places. The most auspicious spot to take holy bath during the occasion is at Kaleswaram - Kaleshwara Mukteswara Swamy Temple.

It is said that a person who takes a holy dip in Pranahita River at the auspicious time of Pushkaralu will be blessed by gods and will get sin redemption.

There is a belief that Pranahita River, Vynya River, Saraswati River merge in Godavari River during the Pranahita Pushkaralu.

The main place to take holy dip during the pushakram are Tummidihettl, Vemanapalli, Arjuna Gutta, Kaleshwaram, Supaka, Janagama, Aalugama, Pulagama, and Sirsa villages in Adilabad and Karimnagar districts of Telangana

Pranahita River merges in Godavari River at Kaleshwaram and the famous Kaleshwara Mukteswara Swamy Temple dedicated to Shiva is located here.

Various kinds of donations and annadanam (food for animals, birds, fishes and humans) are performed during the period.


Kaleshwara Mukteswara Swamy Temple

The unique aspect of Kaleshwara Mukteswara Swamy temple is the presence of two Lingams holding on to a single pedestal or the Panavattam. The temple gets its name Kaleshwara Mukteswara Swamy mandiram because of the duel presence of Mahadeva Shiva or Mukteshwara (liberation) and the other is Shiva as Kaleshwar - the one who is time.

There is a hole in Mukteshwara Shivling and it can never be filled with water.
