Aluva Cheerakada Devi Temple – Thalappoli Festival

Aluva Cheerakada Devi temple, also known as Cheerakada Sree Durga Bhagavathi Temple, is located at Cheerakada in Aluva near Ernakulam district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathy or Devi. The annual thalappoli festival in the temple is held in Malayalam Meda masam (April – May).

The temple has a chathura sreekovil and shrines of Upa Devatas. The upa devatas worshipped in the temple Nagas, Ayyappa and Sastha.

The temple conducts annadanam, or Karthika oottu, on all Karthika nakshatra day. This is the nakshatra associated with Goddess Durga Bhagavathi.

The temple also organizes Makam Thozhal on the Makam nakshatra day in Kumbha masam (February – March).

The Pongala festival in the temple is held on Makara Chowa day (January).

The temple also observes Thaipooyam, Skanda Sashti in Thula Masam, Deepavali,  Mandala Chirappu Mahotsavam and Thrikarthika festival. Navratri mahotsavam with Ezhuthiniruthu and Ayilyam Sarpa pooja in Kanni Masam.
