Puthiyankam Kattussery Vela – Puthukulangara Bhagavathi Temple Festival

Puthiyankam Puthukulangara Bhagavathy temple is located near Alathur in Palakkad district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathy and the annual Puthiyankam Kattussery Vela festival is held on Atham nakshatra in Meena Masam (March – April).

The annual Vela festival is conducted by two villages Puthiyankam and Kattussery. The day is the appearance day or birthday of Puthukulangara Bhagavathy.

The annual festival is famous for caparisoned elephants, panchavadyam, pandi melam and traditional performing art forms of Kerala.

This is a small temple with a huge peepal tree in front of the shrine.

The shrine also observes Navratri and Thrikarthika festival.

Vettakkorumakan temple is located nearby.

The annual pratishta festival in the temple is held in Malayalam Mithuna Masam (June - July).
