Erattupetta Nadackal Bhagavathi Temple – Festival

Erattupetta Nadackal Bhagavathi temple is located at Nadackal near Erattupetta – Poonjar in Kottayam district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali. The annual festival in the temple is held in Malayalam Meena masam and coincides with the Meena Bharani day.

The murti of Bhagavathy worshipped here is the Kannadi Bimbam. The four walls of the sanctum sanctorum have lamps carved on rock, which is a hallmark of the temples belonging to the Poonjar Royal Family. In 2015, a shrine for Ayyappa was built in the temple premises to house a murti given by a family to the Bhadrakali Temple four decades prior.

As per history, the temple originally belonged to a Brahmin family who, under unclear circumstances handed it over to the Poonjar Royal Family.

The Meena Bharani and Pathamudayam festivals are celebrated in the temple.

The temple also has pratishtha of Nagaraja and Nagayakshi.
