Perumattom Mahadeva Temple – Shivratri Festival

Perumattom Mahadeva temple is located at Perumattom near Veliyannoor in Kottayam district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Shiva. Maha Shivratri in Kumbha Masam (February – March) is the most important festival in the temple. Vinayaka Chaturthi in Chingamasam is another important festival in the temple.

The sankalpam of Shiva in Perumattom temple is that of Ardhanarishwara.

The annual Shivratri festival is famous for abhishekam, yajnas, homam and ezhunnallathu.

Another important festival in the temple is the Thiruvathira nakshatra in Dhanu masam (December – January). Pradosham is a very important day for worship here.

The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple includes Goddess Parvati and Ganpati.
