Mezhuveli Anandabhootheshawaram Temple – Festival

Mezhuveli Anandabhootheshawaram temple is located at Mezhuveli in Pathanamthitta district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Shiva or Mahadeva. Maha Shivratri in Kumbha Masam (February or March) is a festival here. The sankalpam of Shiva here is that of God of Bhootas (elements). He is in an extremely happy form.

The temple was consecrated by Sri Narayana Guru. The temple has a separate shrine of Sri Narayana Guru.

The upa devatas worshipped in the temple are Ganapathy, Subramania, Goddess Bhagavathy, Sastha or Ayyappa, Nagaraja and Nagayakshi and Brahma Rakshas.

The Shivratri festival is noted for neivilakku, jaladhara, mrityunjaya pushpanjali abhishekam, dhara, pujas and rituals and homam. The temple is decorated with lamps and flowers on the occasion. Veda Suktam archana and pushpanjali are also performed here.

Mondays and Saturdays are important days in a week. Pradosham Vratam on the 13th day of a fortnight is observed here.

Ramayana Masam, Vinayaka Chaturthi in Chingam, Ayilyam nakshatra in Malayalam months, Navratri, Vrischika Masam (Mandala Kalam), Thrikarthika and Thiruvathira in Dhanu Masam are important in the temple.
