Keezhvaipur Eswaramangalam Mahadeva Temple – Shivaratri

Keezhvaipur Eswaramangalam Mahadeva temple is located at Keezhvaipur near Mallappally in Pathanamthitta district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Shiva – Mahadeva. The annual Shivratri festival is an important occasion at Keezhvaipur Eswaramangalam temple.

The sankalpam of Shiva in the temple is that of Mahadeva in a ferocious form. He has just heard the news about the death of Goddess Sati at Daksha Yagna. For this reason no festivals are held in the temple.

The annual Shivratri is famous for Tantric and Vedic rituals. Dhara, homams, abhishekam, pushpanjali, koovalam or bilva pujas, Bali pujas are mainly performed here on the day.

The temple has a chathura sreekovil with a namaskara mandapam and upadevata. Shivling is worshipped in the main sanctum.

Pradosham, Thiruvathira in Dhanu Masam and Ramayana masam are of importance here. Mondays and Saturdays are the main days in a week.
