Puthanambalam Subrahmanya Swami Temple - Cheruvaranam Sree Narayanapuram Temple - Vavu Bali - Festival

Cheruvaranam Sree Narayanapuram temple, also known as Puthanambalam Subrahmanya Swami temple, is located near Cherthala in Alappuzha district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Muruga or Subrahmanya. The 8-day annual festival in the temple concludes on the Thaipooyam day in Makaram month.

The annual festival is famous for kavadi, procession, performance of Kerala temple arts and music. The shrine is beautifully decorated on the occasion.

Sashti days, in the Malayalam month falling after karutha vavu or amavasya, is of great significance here. Another important day in the temple is the Skanda Sashti falling in October or November.

The temple is noted for the presence of two peacocks. 

The shrine is famous for performing rituals for departed ancestors especially on Karkidaka Vavu Bali day in Karkidakam month.
