The temple is located in quiet and serene place. There is a kodimaram in front of the east facing shrine. There are no major subsidiary deities in the temple.

The Karthika vilakku festival is held in the temple on Karthika nakshatra day in Dhanu masam. The festival is noted for the lighting of lamps, traditional temple music and art forms. Special pujas and rituals are held on the day.

One of the most striking feature of this temple is the big palm tree that welcomes a visitor. The tree is filled with nails that are remains of yakshi (s) and family goddess captured from homes and set free within the temple's confines.
