Kakkassery Vailikulangara Bhagavathi Temple

Kakkassery Vailikulangara Bhagavathi temple is located at Kakkasseri in Thrissur district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi or Devi. The shrine is famous in the region for the famous Makar Chowa pooram festival falling on the first Tuesday of Makarm month.

The temple has a kind and motherly murti of Goddess Bhagavathi. She is affectionately referred to as mother. The square sanctum or chatura sreekovil has the murti of Bhagavathi. There are a couple of subsidiary deities in the temple.

The annual festival in January 18 or 19 is famous caparisoned elephants, melam, temple art forms and music. Traditional rituals and pujas observed in Bhagavathi temples are held on the day.

The thidambu of Bhagavathi is taken atop a caparisoned elephant on the day to the accompaniment of melam.
