Dhumra Yog is considered a bad and inauspicious period in Hindu astrology. This yog is calculated based on nakshatra or birth star. The time period of Dhumra Yog is till the end of nakshatra on the particular day.

Dhumra Yog time period is to be avoided for travels, exams and financial dealings. The time is also not good for the first meeting with a person or family. All kinds of investments, openings etc should be avoided during the time period.

Dhumra Yog happens when - 

Krittika or Karthigai or Karthika nakshatra falls on Sunday or Ravivar

Punarvasu or Punartham nakshatra falls on Monday or Somvar

Purvaphalguni or Pooram nakshatra falls on Tuesday or Mangalvar

Swathi or Chothi nakshatra falls on Wednesday or Budhwar

Mool or Moolam nakshatra falls on Thursday or Guruvar

Shravan or Sravana or Thiruvonam nakshatra falls on Friday or Shukravar

Uttarabhadrapada or Uthrattathi nakshatra falls on Saturday or Shanivar.

Dhumra Yog is present only when the corresponding nakshatra is present on the particular day of a week. The yog ends on the day when the nakshatra period ends.
