Amballur Sree Subramanyapuram Temple - Festival

Amballur Sree Subramanyapuram temple is located at Amballur in Ernakulam district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Subrahmanya Swamy or Muruga. The shrine is famous for Pakalpooram and Thaipooyam in Makaram month. The annual temple festival in the temple is held in Kumbha Masam.

A standing murti of Muruga is worshipped in the square sanctum sanctorum. The shrine has a kodimaram. The well maintained temple was renovated recently.

The Thaipooyam festival (January – February) is famous for caparisoned elephant, temple music, various types of Kavadis, Shoolam, and Kavadiyattam. The festival is one of the most colorful festivals in the region.

The temple also observes Sashti fasting in every Malayalam month – the sixth day after Karutha Vavu or Amavasya.

The other festivals observed in the temple include Skanda Sashti and Thrikarthika.

The shrine also has peacocks in the temple compound.
