Muringamala Durga Devi Temple - Information - Festival

Muringamala Durga Devi temple, also known as Muringamala Muthassi Bhagavati temple, is located around 11 km east of Alathur in Palakkad district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Durga.

The most important annual festival in the shrine is held in Kumbham month (February – March). Ayyappan Vilakku ritual is held annually on January 1.

The annual 6-day Kumbhabhishekam festival is noted for traditional Kerala art forms. Special importance is given during the period for traditional music of Kerala. Thayambaka and Panchari Melam are part of the festival.

The temple is located amidst lush green. The small simple temple is noted for its devotional atmosphere.

The annual Prathishta festival in the temple is held in Makaram month.

The annual Vela festival is held in Malayalam Meda Masam.

Ayilyam puja is held on the Ayilyam nakshatra day in Kanni masam in the temple.
