Cherukole Dharma Sastha Subramanya Swamy Temple Facts - History

Cherukole Dharma Sastha Subramanya Swami temple is located at Cherukole on Mavelikara – Thiruvalla road in Alappuzha district, Kerala. There are two temples here with equal importance. First one is is dedicated to Sastha and the second one is dedicated to Subrahmanya. Bothe the deities are of Swayambhu Sankalpam – of divine origin.

As per history, Cherukole Dharma Sastha is one among the 108 Ayyappa temples in Kerala. The shrine is mentioned as Cheru Thazhathu Kavu in Thottam Pattu, which narrates about the 108 Ayyappan Kavukal in Kerala.

The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple are Shiva, Yakshi and Rakshas.

The annual festival begins on Kartika nakshatra day with kodiyettam in Kumbham month and ends with arattu on Uthram nakshatra.
