Edathrakavu Temple – Ayyappa – Meloor – Information

Edathrakavu temple is located near Meloor in Thrissur district, Kerala. The temple is one among the 108 Ayyappa temples in Kerala. The shrine is known as Edathrakavu in Thottam Pattu, which narrates the 108 Ayyappan kavukal in Kerala.

The shrine lies on the banks of Kanolikkanal. Sastha and Bhagavathy have equal importance. There are two sreekovil (sanctum sanctorum). Sastha is on the south side and Bhagavathy is on the north side.

The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple are Ganapathy, Parashakti and Anthimahakalan.

The 8-day annual festival begins with flag hoisting or kodiyettam on Uthram nakshatra in Kumbham month (Feb – March). The festival concludes on the eighth day with Arattu.

From Vrischikam 1 (November 16 or 17), Kalamezhuthu pattu is held. There will 11 or more kalams daily. Kalattu Kuruppanmar performs the Kalamezhuthu pattu. Theeyattu and Pattu is also held during the period and this conducted by Thiyadi Nambiar.
