Karthyakulangara Dharmasastha temple is located at Chalaparambu around 2 km from Vaikom in Kottayam district, Kerala.
The temple is one among the 108 Ayyappan temples (Ayyappan Kavukal) in Kerala. In
Thottam Pattu, which sings the glory of Sastha temples in Kerala, the shrine is
known Vedashalakavu.
The temple is known as Vedashalakavu
because the temple stands in the spot where Pandavas had performed a Vedic
Yagna. The place name Chalaparambu is a corruption of Yagaparambu.
The annual festival in the temple begins
on Thiruvathira nakshatra in Mithuna masam (June- July) and ends on Uthram nakshatra.
The temple belonged to Maniyankulathillam
which was located near the temple.
The temple is currently managed by NSS Karayogam.
