Kuruvakkavu Ayyappa Temple At Eranhikkal In Kozhikode

Kuruvakkavu Ayyappa temple is located Eranhikkal in Karanthur In Kozhikode district, Kerala. The temple is near the Ambalpady bus stop on Kozhikode – Atholi road. The main murti worshipped in the temple is Ayyappa and Vettakkorumakan.

The murti or vigraham of Ayyappa worshipped in the temple is swayambhu. In the sanctum sanctorum, Ayyappa gives darshan along with Prabha and Sathyaka (Prabha Sathyakasamethanaya Ayyappan).

It is believed that Vettakkorumakan was later installed in the sreekovil by a local ruler.

The deities face east and the subsidiary deity worshipped in the temple is Ganapathi.

Annually, on the Makaravilakku or Makara Sankrama day, pattum vilakku festival is held.

The temple belonged to Karamballi Kuruppu, who were the naduvazhis of the area (local rulers).

Nearby there is a Subrahmanya Temple with two tier sreekovil or sanctum sanctorum. The main murti worshipped in the temple is Murugan or Subrahmanian. The Upa Devatas in this temple are Vettakkorumakan, Shivan, Dakshinamurti and Ganapathi.
