Ongallur Ganapathy Temple – History – Festival - Offerings

Ongallur Ganapathy temple is located at Ongallur on Pattambi – Shornur road in Palakkad district, Kerala. The main deity worshipped in the temple is Shiva but the temple is famous for the Upa Devata murti Ganapathy or Ganesha.

It is believed that Pratishta in the temple was performed by Naranathu Bhranthan.

The Shiva temple has a circular sanctum sanctorum – Vatta Sreekovil – which faces east.

Ganapathi in the temple faces west.

The main festival in the temple is held with Kodiyettam on Uthrattathi nakshatra in Makaram month. The festival ends on Thiruvathira nakshatra.

The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple are Ayyappa and Nagas.

The main offerings in the temple are Ottayappam and Karolappam.
