Anantha Padmanabha Swamy temple or Ananthapura temple is located in Kasaragod district, Kerala. The annual festival in the temple is held on Medam 5. Ananthapura temple festival 2024 date is April 18. The annual festival is noted for Theppotsavam or boat festival.
The main deity worshipped in the temple is Anantha Padmanabha Swamy who sits atop Adi Shesha. Bhu Devi sits on
the left side and Mahalakshmi sits on the right side. The olden name of this
temple was Vilwamangalam. It is believed that Vilwamangalam Swamiyar had performed
penance or tapas here.
Ananthapura is one among the ancient 32 villages in Tulunadu and the deity is the Gramadevata of Ananthapura.
The temple is famous for its pratishta which is in Kadu Sharkara Prayogam.
The temple is located in the middle of a pond. There is a cave on the northeast corner of the temple and it is believed that treasure is hidden in the cave.
The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple are Ganapathy, Jaladurga, Parthasarathy, Vana Sasthavu, Raktheshwari and Yakshi.
