Anilas In Hinduism

Anilas are Gana Devatas in Hinduism. They are closely associated with Indra, the king of Devas or demigods. There are 49 Anilas. Thunder and lightning are their weapons.

Story Of Anilas

Hiranyaksha and Hiranyakashipu were the sons of Sage Kashyapa and Diti. The sons were killed by Bhagavan Vishnu. Diti wanted to avenge the death of her sons and for that she requested her husband to provide with a powerful son.

Sage Kashyapa fulfilled the wish of Diti and asked the pregnant Diti to meditate for 10,000 years.

Indra who came to know about this entered the womb of Diti when she was sleeping and cut the growing fetus into 49 parts. The 49 parts later became known as Anilas.
