Nediyathali Shiva Temple In Kodungallur

Nediyathali Shiva Temple is an ancient temple located in between Chanthapura and Kothaparambu in Kodungallur, Thrissur district, Kerala. Nediya Thali temple is very small but is of great importance historically.

The main deity in the temple is Shiva and the murti faces west. The Shivling in the temple is one of the biggest in Kerala. There are no Upa Devatas in the temple.

The temple is one among the four Thali temples in Kodungallur built during the period of Perumakan rulers.

As per Perunna Shila Rekha, Ramavarma Kulashekara who was the king between 1090 AD to 1102 AD had taken refuge in Nediyathali Shiva Temple when his Kodungallur palace and town was attacked.

Ramavarma Kulashekara raised a chaverpada (an army ready to die in battle) while staying in the temple.
