Thirumuppam Temple Festival – Thirumuppam Mahadeva Temple

Thirumuppam Mahadeva Temple is located on National Highway 17 at Varapuzha in Ernakulam district, Kerala. The 8-day festival at Thirumuppam temple ends on Thiruvathira nakshatra day in Vrischikam month with arattu.

The 8-day festival includes rituals like Utsava bali, Valiya Vilakku, Pakalpooram, Sarpa Bali, and Deepakazcha. Pakal pooram and Valiya Vilakku are observed a day before Arattu.

Special Arattu Sadhya is held on the final day.

The Shivling worshipped in the temple is big. The Sankalpam of Shiva worshipped in the temple is that of Kiratamurti. The Upa Devata Yakshi worshipped in the temple has more importance than the main murti.

1500 tender coconut water (karikkin vellam) is offered to Yakshi on Nag Panchami day in Karkidakam month.

The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple are Ganapathy, Sastha, Rakshas and Yakshi.

The present Vigraham was consecrated when the old Vigraham had broken. Earlier the sreekovil was facing west now it is facing east.
