Thirumangalam Temple Festival At Engandiyur – Thrissur

Thirumangalam temple is located at Engandiyur on the Guruvayur – Ernakulam road in Thrissur district, Kerala. Thirumangalam Temple festival 2021 date is March 11. Ashtami Rohini in 2021 is on August 30. The most important festival observed in the temple are Shivratri and Ashtami Rohini.

The temple has two murtis one of Shiva and another of Bhagawan Vishnu. Both the murtis faces east.

The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple are Sastha along with Poorna and Pushkala, Ganapathy, Subramania, Goddess Parvati and Nagaraja.

The temple is one among the 108 Shiva temples in Kerala.

The believed that the temple was built to stop the constant encroachment of the area by sea. Shiva is here believed to have stopped the sea from venturing into the area.

The Shiva in the temple became ferocious after stopping the sea. To lessen the ferociousness of Shiva, Vishnu along with Goddess Lakshmi was consecrated in the temple.

An important offering in the temple is Thrimadhuram – it is believed that those who offer this sweet in the shrine will be blessed with peace, prosperity and sweetness in their life.

As there are two sreekovil in the temple, devotees are allowed to perform the poorna pradakshina unlike the 3/4th pradakshina allowed in Shiva temples.

Praying to Shiva in the temple is seen to give relief to diseases and also to all kinds of horoscope problems, evil eye and enemy related problems.

The shrine is also famous as people facing mental distress, depression, emotional disturbances and other mental problems find relief after offering prayer to Shiva here.

The temple belongs to Kattumadam Mana famous Tantriks and Manthravadees in Kerala.
