Thayamkulangara Subrahmanya Swamy Temple Festival – Thaipooyam

Thayamkulangara Subrahmanya Swami temple is located at Cherpu in Thrissur district, Kerala. The most important festival in the temple is observed on Thaipooyam. Thayamkulangara Subrahmanya Swami temple Thaipooyam festival 2024 date is January 25.

Hidumban the great devotee of Subrahmanya faces the main murti in the sreekovil of the temple.

Sage Pooru once visited Pazhani temple and had a dream of Subramanya Swamy that he would appear near Peruvanam temple. Sage Pooru returned back and few days later a child with a Vel was seen in the northwestern side of the temple. The child dug a pond with his Vel and disappeared. Thayamkulangara Subrahmanya Swami temple is located at the spot where the child with Vel was seen.

The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple are Ganapathi, Ayyappan, Navagrahas, Sarpam and 42 Eswaranmar.

The most important festival observed in the temple is the Thaipooyam in Makaram month.

Other festivals are Prathishtadinam, Sashti and Navratri.
